Card: Page of Pentacles

Deck: Robin Wood

Description: a young woman with her blonde hair back in what seems to be a messy ponytail. She wears a white tunic with long sleeves that ends at her upper thigh. It is cinched at her waist with what seems to be a rope. The ends of the sleeves and the bottom hem of the tunic seem to be bordered in lily pads with light pink flowers. Attached to the rope waist is an artist's palette with seven different splotches of color. She stands at the edge of the wave line, on the wet sand, in sandals that are light brown, probably leather. The page stands at a 45 degree angle towards the card, but with her face facing directly to the left hand side of the card. The waves seem sort of tempestuous, definitely frothy, but more like that white bubbly froth that comes from waves hitting the shore, not necessarily like a storm brewing. She holds in her right hand a golden goblet with something coming out of it. At first I thought it was a bird, but given the water aspect of this card, it could just be a poorly drawn fish. Rays of illumination come directly from the fish/bird. The page looks upon the fish and goblet in her hand with interest, perhaps some curiosity. Her left hand rests upon her left hip right above the artist's palette. The sky's background I thought was dusk, but as I drove to work today, I noticed the same gradation of colors from blue to dusty purple, mauve, rose and finally to yellow. Definitely dawn, not looking at exactly where the sun rises, perhaps to the north, maybe northwest instead.

Thoughts: Knowing this is dawn, I feel like it is the beginning of understanding emotions, almost like finding a curiosity about feelings. The beginning of a friendship, as long as there is curiosity on both sides, because it looks as if the fish/bird is looking as much at the page as the page it looking at it.
